Cinephile No. 584 "Deconstructing Dani Garcia"
I have a confession to make. I, Nathan Box, find the world of professional chefs fascinating. The reason is largely unknown to me, but my hunch is that it centers around pure admiration for their talent; a talent I wish I possessed. For this reason, I selected "Deconstructing Dani Garcia" during the 2016 Seattle International Film Festival. Over the next 80+ minutes, my respect grew even more. Not necessarily for the chef before me, but the craft in general. There are those of us who go to work just trying to eek out a living. Then there are those who are constantly trying to push the line of what is expected forward. This movie, perhaps more than any other I have seen on the subject, did exactly that. If you consider yourself a foodie and an admirer of the craft, I highly recommend this film.
Be good to each other,
-Nathan
