Cinephile No. 536 “The Walk”
"The Walk" is a love letter to New York and the Twin Towers as much as it is a salute to those who chase their dreams. From 110 stories in the air, all of the tristate area is laid out before us as a man takes to his wire. At this death defying height, several things came to my mind: America lost a symbol on September 11th, the limits man will push himself to is astonishing, New York is who we are to most of the world and cinematography can take us places we never thought possible. With every step back and forth on his wire, I held my breath and looked on in disbelief. “The Walk” is a cinematic ride unlike anything we have ever seen, not because of the power of a green-screen, but because what a wire, some buildings and a passion can mean.
Be good to each other,
-Nathan
